Subaru took advantage of the Shanghai Motor Show to reveal the results of the efforts deployed to create a “crossover that blends elegance and the practicality of an SUV”: the XV concept. What was supposed to redefine the genre is in fact a 5-door version of the Impreza.
4,450 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,620 mm high and featuring a 2,635-mm wheelbase, it uses a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, DACT engine mated to a continuously variable transmission, and can accommodate 5 people.
The XV sports a hexagonal grille and license plate frame as well as the brand’s typical headlamps. Original touches like the lemon-lime paint job, non-existent rear-view mirrors and black, 19-inch wheels with contrasting silver spokes give the vehicle a fresh look.
The seats are trimmed in white leather, with the same lemon-lime contrast piping as well as mesh highlights. A multipurpose screen handles navigation and audio and displays XV-relevant information. The EyeSight system is also on board, displaying the images captured by external cameras so the driver can avoid obstacles.
