Tesla CEO Elon Musk has a knack for creating suspense and making big announcements on social media. Most recently, the company posted a very intriguing picture on its Facebook page. It shows a Tesla Model S in front of a brick wall with the number “100” painted on it.

Is Tesla actually on the verge of launching a Model S P100D? It seems pretty likely at this point. As you know, battery power has kept increasing since the car’s introduction. While earlier models offered 60kWh and 85kWh options, Model S buyers can now specify 70kWh or 90kWh batteries.

What if “100” simply means that Tesla has sold 100,000 copies of its electric sedan so far? According to the Tesla Updates website, that milestone was achieved last December, although no official confirmation by Tesla was provided. It could also explain why the picture shows a non-refreshed Model S.

What’s your take? Do you think that we’ll soon be seeing a Tesla Model S P100D on the road?
