At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Tesla Motors announced the world's biggest touchscreen infotainment console in a production car. Communication, climate control and standard navigation will all be managed using a monstrous 17-inch display in the middle of the dashboard.
Occupants of the Tesla Model S will enjoy eye candy in the form of vivid 3D graphics, the company promises. One processor will be used to power the infotainment and navigation systems, and another for the instrument cluster. The latter includes an ultra high-resolution, 12.3-inch LCD display.
NVIDIA technology will help the unit minimize energy consumption despite its humongous size. The renowned electronics specialist has also partnered with BMW to equip all their vehicles with an upgraded iDrive interface.
