The Cadillac Escalade has been the vehicle of choice for car thieves across Canada and the US for years, but new safety features will make life difficult for would-be hijackers in 2012.
The beefy SUV now includes a high-tech encryption system for the key, its cylinder and the ignition system.
It’ll also be nearly impossible to load the 2012 Cadillac Escalade onto a flatbed thanks to an enhanced steering column lock system, according to GM.
An inclination sensor that senses an unusual change in angle and sounds an alarm accordingly is also making its appearance, deterring towing thefts, among others.
The first two features will be offered as standard equipment. The third will be optional as will be a shock sensor that detects things like breaking glass as well as a new wheel lock system.
