Promoter Formula Race Promotions has launched the Atlantic Championship Series for SCCA-legal Formula Atlantic race cars.
The new series will run in conjunction with the highly successful Formula 2000 and F1600 Formula F series, which are sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing. A six-round, three-event championship is planned for next season.
All chassis and engine rules are per the existing 2012 SCCA GCR. Cars will be required to run Hoosier racing tires, 13-inch-diameter bias-plies or 15-inch-diameter radials.
All events feature two races per weekend, six races in total. A driver’s best-five results will count toward the 2012 title.
2012 planned schedule
-- May 10-12, Road Atlanta, Braselton, Ga.
-- June 29-July 1, New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, N.J.
-- Aug. 24-26, Summit Point Motorsports Park, Summit Point, W.V.
