Several car manufacturers showcased their most exotic race cars to the public during the recent international Paris Motor Show.

Despite the slow economy and the drop in new cars sales seen around the globe, a record crowd of 1,43 millions visitors toured the Paris car show. The three main French constructors - Renault, Peugeot and Citroën - evidently stole the show.

Here are some of the race cars that could be seen:

Citroën: The new Citroën C4 Hymotion, the first hybrid WRC car destined to compete in the FIA World Rally Championship was on display. Citroën also showed Sébastien Loeb's regular C4 WRC car.

Peugeot: The turbo diesel LMP1 908 endurance race car was on display along with its all-aluminium V12 engine. The hybrid 908, with its stunning metallic paint, was also on display. Finally, Peugeot also showcased its new 207 Super 2000 rally car.

Renault: The R28 Formula 1 car, and the RS27 V8 F1 engine.

Porsche: Showed the RS Spyder American Le Mans LMP2 endurance car.

Subaru: Had the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRC car of Petter Solberg.

Audi: Had on display the Le Mans winning turbo diesel R10 that has remained in the exact condition it crossed the finish line in La Sarthe last June.
