Once again, Buick will be the key to success for Oshawa’s auto industry. Things have a way of coming full circle, don’t they?

Oshawa today
In 2009, GM’s Oshawa assembly plant produced 215,676 vehicles.

Upgrades have recently been made to the complex, including retooling for flexible production ($740 million), which will allow quicker, more cost-effective transitions between models and assembly lines. The Camaro is the first car to benefit from the upgraded manufacturing process.

In late 2005, GM inaugurated a new paint shop using waterborne paint technologies, which reduce volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions by 50 percent.

Outside of the assembly plant, hundreds of Camaros are waiting to be shipped to Chevrolet dealers all around the world. The plant can produce up to 440-450 units a day. (Photo: Luc Gagné/Auto123.com)
