The ICAR Complex has confirmed the signature of a five years contract with the promoters of the "Chamonix Revival 2012", a championship that aims at recreating the famous On-Ice 24Hours of Chamonix that was held from the 1970s until the early 2000 years.

“The track we will be building for the 24Hours On-Ice will reproduce the mythic track of Chamonix. It will, however, be larger so our drivers can experience maximum pleasure and our fans have the best possible show,” said ICAR President Marc Arseneau.

The multi-functional ICAR Complex, located on the former Mirabel airport, will add another track to its facility – already the biggest in Quebec. The event promises great excitement with the best cars of the mythic event and world renowned drivers at the wheel.

“The greatest rally, endurance and open-wheeler drivers have once taken part in the 24Hours of Chamonix. Many of them will make the trip to ICAR next winter for this first edition of the ‘Revival’,” added championship promoter Franz Hummel.

Cars of the 1973-1981 rally championship periods will be lined up for the event. Ford Escort MK2, Porsche 911, Talbot Lotus, BMW 2002, Lancia Stratos, Fiat 131 Abarth and Alpine-Renault cars are, notably, expected on the starting grid.

This first edition of the revival race will take place from February 24-26, 2012. Tickets will be available next fall when more details are released about the complete schedule of the event.
