As for the Mountaineer, Mercury has made some very worthwhile changes to the large SUV's powertrain and other equipment levels, but the
volumes for such big-ticket vehicles are small in Canada and that makes them hard to market here.
Mountaineer does get a refined exterior shape, an upgraded interior, and a 24-value, 292-hp, 4.6-liter V-8 with a class-leading six-speed automatic transmission.
To help out with ingress and egress, deployable running boards have been integrated into the rocker panels.
