Bill Mitchell

Bill Mitchell was recruited at General Motors (GM) by Harley Earl, and eventually took over from him in 1958. Over the years he collaborated on the creation of a number of iconic models, often in partnership with other designers. So it was with the Corvette Stingray of the 1960s as well as the 1963 Buick Riviera. Also attributable to him is at least one timeless classic, the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.

Under Bill Mitchell’s leadership the GM design team also came up with models like the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird and 1955-57 Chevrolet Bel Air.
