Georges Paulin
Who knows what kind of long career French designer Georges Paulin might have had if not for the outbreak of World War Two. Between 1934 and 1938, George Paulin produced some extraordinary models for Peugeot, for example the 601 Eclipse, the first convertible with a retractable hardtop.
A dentist by training, Paulin took to automotive design in 1930, and by the next year he had filed for a trademark on his convertible concept. Another of his creations was the Talbot-Lago of the late 30s, a car with truly breathtaking styling.
During the Second World War, Paulin would also be an active member of the French Resistance; he was captured by the Nazis and later executed in 1942.
