It may have been a pickup truck party at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit with three major launches, but we’d be remiss in failing to mention some of the other debuts, which included a touch of performance, a touch of class, even a touch of Hollywood.
There was a lot to take in, so here’s a quick look at our top 10 favourite new models in Detroit:
Hyundai Veloster and Veloster N
While technically the 2019 Veloster is all-new, perhaps more significant than that is how its arrival signals the arrival of Hyundai’s N performance division. For the Veloster, the “N transformation” means new exterior styling in the form of special colours, different side sills, special wheels, Michelin Pilot SuperSport or Pirelli P-Zero tires (depending on wheel size), rear spoiler and dual high-flow exhaust. Under the hood, the N gets a larger 2.0L engine good for 275 hp and 260 lb-ft., as well as a special clutch and sport suspension tuning. More than just a single model, the N treatment will soon be applied to a whole range of Hyundai vehicles. Learn more about the 2019 Veloster and Veloster N!
