Toyota's plant in Georgetown Kentucky is presently producing Camry sedans. Although the Camry is a very strong seller, the addition of a new Crossover on the assembly line would help ease the plant's dependence on the midsize car.
Toyota's investment of $400 million would not physically expand the structure or its workforce. This would mean that Toyota would have to move some of its current output to another plant.
For the moment, there are few details on the proposed new Crossover vehicle.
