Two French engineers, Xavier Degon and Antonin Guy, have just crossed 17 countries and travelled 25,000 kilometres around the globe to demonstrate how electric vehicles can suit any lifestyle. They were greeted yesterday by the Mayor of Strasbourg, where they had started their remarkable journey on February 11th, 2012.

''If an electric vehicle can take you around the world, through the Gobi Desert and the chaotic roads of Laos, it certainly can handle your daily commutes to work, the supermarket and your kid's school,'' said Degon.

Driving a fully electric Citroën C-Zero, the two men visited major cities as well as some of the most remote locations on earth, stopping every 100 kilometres or so to charge the battery. What was their total electricity bill at the end of those 25,000 kilometres? A mere €250, or just over $310. Impressive!
