The point of Triax, Purcell said, was to give the customer ''the ultimate freedom of choice in emissions: low, lower, lowest." In its electric propulsion version, Purcell explained, Chevrolet Triax is a true zero-emission vehicle (ZEV), making it ideal for regions of the world such as southern California where a ZEV is needed.
In its hybrid propulsion configuration, Triax is targeted to be a low-emission vehicle (LEV) and could be right at home in urban centers, such as Tokyo, New York City, London and Paris, as well as Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
Even in its internal combustion engine (ICE) rendition, Purcell pointed out, Triax produces fewer emissions than most current internal combustion engines, thanks to its advanced powerplant. The ICE is specifically engineered to meet the stringent carbon dioxide levels of the European market.
