Cadillac announced yesterday the addition of the BLS wagon to its current model lineup. The clean and stylish looking machine is based on a currently available sedan model.

GM head of design Ed Wellburn is excited about his team's efforts at creating the look to the world's first Cadillac wagon. "The whole team was very excited to apply Cadillac's design language to a wagon for the first time" he said. "The V-shaped chrome-plated grille, a Cadillac hallmark, is picked up again by the shape of the rear window, and the body side character lines make it unmistakably a Cadillac."

Styling elements include jewel-like headlamps, integrated fog lamps, and chrome accenting. Inside, occupants are treated to traditional Cadillac luxuries, including fine leather seating, a refined and quiet ride, Bluetooth, DVD navigation and a Bose stereo system.

Cadillac says the rear cargo hold on the BLS wagon is extremely versatile and designed to support a wide variety of luxury and leisure interests.

Power comes from a selection of turbocharged engines-ranging from a 150 horsepower diesel engine to a 2.8 litre turbocharged V6 with 255 horsepower and variable timing.

If you think such a machine seems a touch out of place for Cadillac's portfolio in North America, you'd be right. The BLS wagon hits European showrooms in the third quarter of 2007.
