Team Penske’s three-time Indianapolis 500 winner, Brazilian Helio Castroneves has signed to again drive alongside Tim Slade in the No. 47 Lucky 7 Falcon run by Stone Brothers Racing.
Uniquely, Castroneves will become a teammate to IndyCar rival Scott Dixon, who has signed to drive alongside Shane van Gisbergen.
Dixon drives for Target Chip Ganassi Racing, the prime rival to Castroneves’ Penske team in the IZOD IndyCar Series in the United States.
Additionally, British GT sportscar ace Oliver Gavin and former British Touring Car Champion Fabrizio Giovanardi will also be competing in the streets of Surfers Paradise.
Gavin, 38, a works GM driver, won the GT2 class on the weekend at the American Le Mans Series round at Mosport in Canada and will drive alongside Greg Murphy in the No. 11 Pepsi Max Crew Commodore this fall.
Giovanardi, 44, will return to link up with Brad Jones Racing after driving last year with Karl Reindler in the No. 21 Fair Dinkum Sheds Commodore.
He will drive with either Reindler or in Jason Bargwanna's No. 14 Jana Living car on the Gold Coast.
