The cars are set on platforms that move six degrees and that are powered by Hexatech activators linked to powerful computers. The platforms elevates to 1.2 m when the simulator fires up and climbs to 1.8 m when it activates.
This technology mimics real-life racing conditions at their best. The simulator recreates the possible reactions of the cars and their drivers in the most accurate fashion: speed, acceleration, concentration, reaction speed, violence of the braking, vibrations, noise, centrifugal force, exits, choc, etc. The simulator scan recreate average forces of acceleration of 2 Gs.
“At first, we could reach 3 Gs, but it was generally too hard on the undertrained participants”, adds Péronnet.
The initial investment totals 12 million euros ($16.8 millions) which half went in the building’s construction and development. Each simulator, complete with car, Hexatech cylinders and computers, is worth 450 000 euros ($630,000), specifies Péronnet.
“We offer numerous packages and services because one can only spend so much time in our simulators. Therefore, we also have a spa that offers a vast array of cares and services, a bar, a restaurant, a lounge, two terraces and three conference rooms. Clovis Cornillac’s last movie was incidentally shot in parts here and Citroën has rented our rooms to hold the public launch of it’s the C2, states Péronnet.
Many pilots have tried our simulators, like Nicolas Prost, winner of the Le Mans race, Romain Dumas, Bruno Saby, Romain Grosjean, Loïc Duval, Stéphane Sarrazin and Franck Lagorce who admits having been deceived by the moves of the Pescarolo prototypes. “It’s a very realistic simulator. The sensations we feel are very close to what we, racers, experience. Incredible!”, he announced.
