There are three other Touareg models on the market already, starting with the 3.2-litre V6 model at $53,520, and then two 4.2-litre V8s, one for $63,310 and one for $74,700. All get the same six-speed as the V10 diesel model.
Holman says V10 diesel Touareg is ''rugged, yet refined, practical yet stylish, and is the most fuel efficient motor in any mass-produced sport-utility.''
The engine produces 310 hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque, which is sends to all four wheels. The exact amount each axle gets depends upon the grip at that end of the vehicle.
''The Touareg is built for people who expect a high level of comfort on the highway,'' Holman says,'' and powerful workhorse SUV applications.''
