Rumour: Volkswagen Golf Cabrio may return to the U.S.

By ,

The all-new Volkswagen Golf Cabrio will be sold in the U.S., a source close to the project told Car & Driver. This would be a first since 2002.

Based on the seventh-generation Golf, the new model will replace the outgoing Eos and sit alongside the Beetle Convertible. In case you’re wondering, the two-door convertible based on the Passat, which VW had pondered for several years, is no longer in the cards.

No word yet about Canadian availability. One thing’s almost for sure, though: A diesel engine won’t be part of the lineup due to the emissions scandal at Volkswagen.
