Volkswagen is reportedly set to hire former FBI director Louis Freeh to resolve the emissions crisis, according to Reuters. Freeh will help in negotiations with U.S. authorities, which recently filed lawsuits totalling $20 billion against the German automaker.
A supervisory board committee gathered today to discuss the matter.
Ironically, a federal judge in California said on Monday he planned to appoint another former FBI director, Robert S. Mueller, to help settle more than 500 cases against Volkswagen.
