The European Consumer Protection Organization, through its New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), has just released the crash test results of the new Volkswagen Tiguan. Like every other VW product, this compact SUV earned five stars, the highest possible rating.
The NCAP is based on three key elements: Adult, Children and Pedestrian protection. The Tiguan got five stars out of five for Adult protection, four stars out of five for Children protection and two stars out of four for Pedestrian protection, which makes it a safety leader.
Reasons that explain the Tiguan's stellar performance include a highly rigid body structure, energy-absorbing crumple zones all around and a protection system fine-tuned to these characteristics. The numerous driving aides including ABS, ESP and Brake Assist also helped the Tiguan achieve these results. What's more, three-point retractable seat belts are standard for all seating positions.
