Earlier this week, we reported a story about the Volkswagen XL1, a plug-in hybrid concept that burns as little as 0.9 litre of fuel per 100 kilometres.
Dr. Ferdinand Piëch and Martin Winterkorn, two of the automaker's top executives, have now confirmed that the car will see a production run of about 100 units. Germany will be the first market to receive the XL1. Consumers in the U.S. and China will have to wait a little longer.
The production site and vehicle price have yet to be determined.
