Toys inside this concept vehicle include push-button electronic shift controls, an integrated Compaq computer with Internet access, and a remote-mounted radio display in the instrument panel.
Pontiac's Piranha is an attempt to expand the Excitement Division's reach ever farther down the age range, to younger and younger buyers.
The big attractions to 20somethings is that Piranha would be inexpensive to own and to operate, it runs on a small, 16-valve engine, and it can be reconfigured to suit the tastes of people used to getting things the way they like them.
Piranha is also meant to appeal to those snowboarding, mountain bike riding, and hiking active types so coveted by all companies today. To suit their lifestyles, it comes with a fabric roof panel that opens side-to-side between fixed roof rails, a floor that can be hosed out, and a pop-up roof rack.
Finally, there's the Cadillac 2000 Concept which absolutely and definitively shows you where GM's cutting edge, international division is headed in the next decade, maybe not exactly but so close you'd be surprised. I could easily see a future Cadillac Deville that looks a lot like this vehicle.
