The future is greener!
With the Volt, a person who usually drives 24,000 km a year in a vehicle that consumes 8 L/100 km could save up to 2,000 litres of fuel. Meanwhile, he or she would produce 4½ tons less carbon dioxide. Imagine the improvement if only 10 percent of all vehicles ran on electricity! Incidentally, GM will do everything in their power to market this 4-door compact car as soon as possible at a rate of 100,000 units per year.
If you're concerned about global warming, potential environmental catastrophes, oil prices and the volatile stock market, you're aware of the emergency of having an energy diversification strategy. Right now, across the world, there are approximately 800 million vehicles on the road -- a figure that could exceed the billion mark over the next 15 years. If we keep relying on oil for 98 percent of our overall needs, like we do now, the future and our kids' future will get somber and somber.
But let's give props to GM. Who knows what they will concoct next? I bet that other automakers will follow the lead and become ever so greener. Hopefully, so will our planet.
