Williams drivers Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima set the fastest times today in Day 1 of the Formula 1 test session held in Barcelona, Spain.
The weather conditions were quite treacherous with intermittent rain all day. Air temperature: only reached 13°C.
With totals of 73 and 96, the two Williams drivers also completed the highest number of laps today on Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain.
Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing was third, three tenths of a second ahead of Fernando Alonso in the fastest Renault R28. His teammate Nelsinho Piquet emerged last, having completed only 8 laps on the damp track.
Toyota endured a difficult time. The team was planning to carry out comparative work on the TF108's new aerodynamics package. The unsettled weather made that difficult but Jarno Trulli still put in 57 laps. Third driver Kamui Kobayashi had a quieter day's work because limits to mileage and tyres meant there was little point in running in these conditions.

"The weather really hampered play today in Barcelona. The intermittent rain, in particular, made the track very greasy for the duration of the session. Rosberg and Nakajima were in the cockpit for us and concentrated on set-up work and endurance runs so our running wasn't as adversely affected by the conditions as it perhaps was for others."
