After having been dominated by Ford at the Swedish Rally, the Citroen team intends to regain the advantage this weekend in Mexico.

The Ford Fiesta RS WRC had a thrilling start this season, monopolizing the  three steps of the podium in Sweden. Mikko Hirvonen took the win ahead of young Mads Ostberg (Stobart Ford) and Jari-Matti Latvala.

Sixth only in the first event of the season, Sebastien Loeb intends to be back in top form in Mexico.

The Frenchman was successful in this event in recent seasons, as he clinched victory in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 (there no WRC event in Mexico in 2009).

Loeb is the main favorite to win this weekend, but his teammate Sebastien Ogier and Petter Solberg in his provate Citroen DS3,should also fight for  victory. Kimi Raikkonen will be absent in Mexico, as the Finn decided not to run his private Citroen DS3 R3 in overseas events for budgetary reasons.

The key to this rally will likely be the tires. The way the Michelin tires (the brand is making its WRC return this season) will endure the very demanding Mexican gravel roads will be very crucial. The team expect to repair several punctures this weekend.

Championship classification before Mexico:

1. Hirvonen 25 points, 2. Ostberg 18, 3. Latvala 16, 4. Ogier 15, 5. Solberg et Loeb 10, 7. Andersson 6, 8. Raikkonen 4, 9. Wilson 2, 10. Al Qassimi 1.
