At a time where his seat is under scrutiny, Spaniard World Championship Rally driver Dani Sordo has decided to try something different in order to improve his results: he changed his co-driver.
With Marc Marti out, Spaniard Diego Vallejo, 37, will take the directing seat in Sordo's Citroen for a two-days pre-race test on August 20th. He will be in his role as soon as Rally Deutschland hit the green. The next round is planned for August 22nd-24th.
Marti had been Sordo's co-driver since Carlos Sainz retirement back in 2005. Twenty-six podiums later, the pair still has not registered a win.
Sébastien Ogier is still pushing to get Sordo's seat in a near future, beating his veteran team mate five out of eight times so far this season, even collecting his first win in Portugal earlier in the year.
"I need a change in the car," explained Sordo.
"Marc has been an excellent partner for all these years, he's someone I am grateful to and with whom I have learned a lot, but I finally concluded that the best thing is for us not to work together as a driver and co-driver."
