Both Citroen factory drivers Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier crashed out in the first day of Rally Australia, while they were leading.

Loeb first rolled out in SS4 aboard his Citroen DS3. Loeb will be able to be back for the second leg on Saturday, accoring to the super rally regulation. Ogier inherited the lead, but he crashed out himself in SS4, when he hit a tree.

The two Ford factory drivers now lead the race, with Mikko Hirvonen 9.5 seconds ahead of his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala. Petter Solberg, driving a private Citroen, stands in third position, 40 seconds behind Hirvonen.

The rain that appeared earlier in New South Wales area, South West of Australia, brought a lot of mud on the roads, and very slippery surface. "Every time you brake, it's like ice, it was unbelievably slippery," said Hirvonen.
