Mikko Hirvonen (Ford Focus) put his advantage up to 16.6 secondsĀ  on Sebastien Loeb (Citroen C4) after day 2 of the Rally of Sweden.

The Finn had a 6 seconds advantage after day 1 and was able to increase the gap between him and Loeb when the frenchman suffered from tyre problems.

Behind, Loeb and Hirvonen's teammates were also fighting hard. Dani Sordo (Citroen C4) stood 3rd at the end of day 1, but Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Focus) overtook the Spanish driver at the end of day 2 to take 3rd position on Saturday evening.

After he hit a snow bank on Friday, Kimi Raikkonen (Citroen C4) droped down the order. He now stands in 24th position.

Marcus Gronholm had a very special day in Sweden: he first suffered a tyre puncture in SS13, which cost him about five minutes. He then set the best performance in SS14, but hit a snow bank in SS15, and lost again another two minutes. He now stands in 23rd position, just ahead of Kimi Raikkonen.
