Sebastien Ogier has been signed as the first official Volkswagen driver. He will develop the Polo R in 2012, and will be back in the World Rally Championship in 2013 with his new team.

A video was released on the internet, presenting Sebastien Ogier and his codriver Julien Ingrassia under their new colors. After two seasons with Citroen, and a very difficult relationship with his teammate Sebastien Loeb this year, Ogier was rumored to be joining Ford to replace Mikko Hirvonen.

At the end, Ogier will join Volkswagen, with whom he may indeed make more long term projects. It is not clear yet whether Ogier will run some rallies in 2012 with a Skoda Fabia S2000, model with which Volkswagen made his first WRC training with young drivers this season.

"Volkswagen is the number one Europe, and soon in the world," said Ogier. "I am sure they compete with the goal to win the World Rally Championship, and I am pleased to be part of the adventure as soon as the beginning."

Motorsport Director Kris Nissen added, "We are proud that such a successful and quick duo as Sebastien Ogier and his co-driver Julien Ingrassia have decided to join Volkswagen. The aim of putting a competitive Polo R WRC on the road for them as quickly as possible will additionally drive our team. We look forward to working with them and are hoping for many victories and titles in the future."
