After years of extreme driving X Games super star Travis Pastrana made the biggest leap of his career. Pastrana completed his first test in a NASCAR stock car this week at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida.

Pastrana recently announced that he would race NASCAR with the new Pastrana-Waltrip Racing team.

"Definitely had fun," said the 11-time X Games' champion. "And didn't crash either day. So I guess that's a start."

“This is the biggest challenge that I’ve ever had,” Pastrana told reporters. “It’s going to take a lot of time. I’m willing to put the time in.”

“There’s going to come a time when I need to focus on this more and that time is quickly approaching. I’m not taking it easy this first year, but to kind of understand and get a background of the entire sport.”

He turned about 350 laps in K&N Pro Series East car of which type he plans to debut at Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale, California January 28-29, 2011.

His plans include seven Nationwide races in 2011 and hopefully 20 in 2012, depending on obtaining sponsorship.

He’ll finish up his X Games and other commitments this year to focus on NASCAR full time in 2012.

“My main goal is not look like an idiot this year and hopefully next year we can come in with a better game plan and really start doing well,” Pastrana said.

"As it goes, definitely the results are going to play a big role in whether people think it was a good idea or a bad idea."
