The dashboard has a modern look with its easy to read gauges and quite accessible controls. The controls for the radio and horn, notably, are too small.

The heating system is slow, but does a fine job when the engine has reached its maximum temperature. The view is adequate towards the front, but has blindspots where the pillars are.

A close examination of the body revealed a sturdy construction with finely mated components. More care about some assembling details would make it a stronger competitor within the vast economical car market segment. Its elaborated list of equipment and its price are its main assets.

A BETTER ENGINE-VEHICLE MATING WITH THE 1.6 LITRE
The 1.6 liter four cylinder engine in the SX test car is definitely better mated to the car than the base 1.5 liter.

While not dazzling for a 16 valves, it stills provides decent acceleration with the four-speed automatic.

The latter has well staged ratios and allows accurate gear shifts at the right time when the throttle is pushed hard.

I did not test the five-speed manual, but I feel I would better the 0 to 100 km|h by at least one second.

Moreover, with decent responses materializing a little over 3000 RPM, a skilled driver could undoubtedly take advantage of that 105 horsepower 1.6 liter engine with a lot of spirit.
