2000 Toyota Echo - 'Fun'ky

The way my husband was going on about the "radical new design" of the Toyota Echo, I expected something like the Jetson's space car meets Herby the Love Bug. When I saw it I knew what he was talking about. It isn't strange looking, but it's not your typical design either. He described it to me as 'cute'. Toyota says that the Echo puts the 'fun' back in function. I say it puts the fun back in funky. With its center-mounted instrumentation, its geometrically patterned seats, its unique combination rear lights, and its - well, funky, wedged profile, it is just plain fun.

My sister and I went out in the Echo and had a blast. The front seats are raised to 22.4 inches (580mm), which makes getting in and out of it effortless. The front seat cushions are larger (when compared with the Tercel, the car it replaces) which increases riding comfort. These two features obviously left us sitting higher in the car, which gave us a roomy feel, excellent visibility and for some reason made us feel like cranking the tunes and dancing in our seats.
