2003 Dodge SX 2.0 R/T - OK, This Is Too Much Fun for $20K!

One of the greatest things about life is that you just never know what's coming around the corner. It was like this when Dodge's somewhat unassuming SX 2.0 R/T showed up in my driveway. I knew it was going to be fun, due to spending a week with last year's Chrysler branded Neon R/T, but I wasn't prepared for the rest of the package?

What's so special? Well, the slick new front fascia with integrated fog lamps looks great and its sinister twin chrome-tipped tailpipes that combine with a tall decklid spoiler really improve what is otherwise a stock SX 2.0 rear end, but that's not the best part. It's from the inside looking out that really surprises.

The SX 2.0 on the whole shows marked improvement over last year's Neon when it comes to interior plastics quality, fit and finish, and features for the money. The R/T moves everything up a notch, especially when ordered with optional leather trim. Its standard upscale convenience features include power windows, power locks with remote access, dual power mirrors, power remote trunklid, air-conditioning, cruise control, a key actuated engine immobilizer, security system, and body-color center stack inset surrounding a 6-speaker AM/FM/cassette audio with a 6-disc in-dash CD player - hey, even the BMW 3-Series doesn't offer an in-dash CD player as an option no less.
