Transformed Camaro Still Very Cool!
Ladies, if you want to make a lot of noise and get noticed in your car – don’t let the looks of this beast scare you away. This gorgeous looking Pony car will get you all the attention you need and more.

Gentlemen, if you have a thing for classic cars or maybe were a fan of the Transformers movie series, you may be a bit jealous when I tell you that I am driving the 2010 Camaro SS this week.

When the Transformers movie came out in 2007, the Camaro concept was introduced as Bumble Bee and a new generation of Camaro lovers was born. Bumble Bee made it cool for boys, Megan Fox made it hot for women and the updated styling made it the perfect Pony Car for the men!

The term ‘Pony Car’ is not a common term with today’s younger generation but for some of us, it conjures up some very wonderful cars from the past.

Wikipedia defines ‘Pony Car’ as: “A term used to describe an affordable, compact, highly styled car with a sporty or performance oriented image”. Just looking at this machine I am in wonder of how this classic car, that was first introduced in 1967, can still fit that description almost 45 years later?

Let us start with affordable. The base Camaro LS starts at just under $27,000 and has a 3.6L V6 engine and 304 hp. Looking for a bit more muscle – the top of the line 2SS has an SFI High Output 6.2L V8, 20-inch wheels and a starting price of around $42,500.

Compare that to the starting price of the base Challenger SE that gives you a 3.5L V6 and 250 hp at just under $26,000 and the base Mustang with a 3.7L V6 and 305 hp which will cost you very close to $24,000. If you want a car that will get you noticed – not just a quick glance, but several loooong stares, then $27,000 is a bargain even though it is slightly higher than the others in this class.

This V8 delivers 426 hp or 400 with the Active Fuel Management. (Photo: Lacey Elliott/Auto123.com)
