So where does the Montero Sport fall short? Providing it's put into perspective, meaning a truck based 4x4 capable SUV and not a car-based all-wheel drive wagon with body cladding, its less refined ride and handling aren't bothersome but par for the course in this league. After all, if you want these features Mitsubishi makes two worthy contenders in the compact Outlander and midsize Endeavor. These last two get better fuel economy than the Montero Sport too. Its 13.1 L/100 km (18.5 mpg) combined city/highway rating is hardly stingy.

But that's about it for complaints. Mitsubishi's midsize 4x4 is ideal for those with adventurous spirits, offering Japanese build quality, a tough undercarriage and robust V6 performance. The fact that it looks especially attractive doesn't hurt either. It's definitely worth your consideration.
