It rides on 16-inch 5-spoke alloy rims mated to 205/60R16 tires, standard on the 4-cylinder GS model, with 17-inch aluminum wheels and 215/50R17 tires available with the GT-I4, GS-V6 and GT-V6, as well as the GS-I4 equipped with the optional Sport Package - that incidentally also includes an 8-way adjustable power driver's seat with lumbar support, 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, leather-wrapped shift knob and parking break lever, fog lamps, side sill extensions and a racy rear spoiler. If the extra equipment and associated jump in price of the Sport Package isn't needed, a separate GFX Package that includes titanium colored accents, upgraded instrument gauges package, dual oval chrome exhaust, side and rear skirts, front air deflector and rear spoiler is available on GT-I4, GS-V6 and GT-V6 models.

But hold on, I've gone way ahead of myself. All that's needed to get started in a base GS model is $24,295, and that buys a lot of car. I was initially impressed with the improvements made in overall quality of plastics and materials, fit and finish and general interior design when I sat behind the wheel of a pre-production version over a year ago. After spending more time inside the car at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month, I still like what I see.
