Italy's Very Own Hummer built with GM Money
As not to ignore the Hummer's alter crowd, the street scene, the Oltre has been decked out with a whole host of goodies to give it serious street cred. Bling and tactical utility meet chrome-plated 26-inch wheels and

pearl white paint, while the interior's blue and white leather scheme is enhanced with a Pioneer DVD-navigation system backed by a powerful stereo. The interior itself is quite similar to the H1's, with intrusive interior drivetrain components, plus basic gauges and controls.

Power comes from Iveco's 3.0-litre I-4 turbodiesel, complete with common rail injection technology and an efficiency-boosting variable geometry turbocharger. (critical so as not to limit range) while conquering the great outdoors, including barren deserts, frigid tundra and just about anything in between. Anything that is, except for fast-paced Autostradas: top speed is just slightly above 130 km/h (80 mph).

And brakes? Little was mentioned about stopping power, but interestingly enough Fiat claims about a half metre (50 cm - 20 in.) of ground clearance plus extra-resilient springs and dampers. What does its suspension have to do with braking? Not a whole lot, but the durable underpinnings should provide any extra distance needed should you run out of road. By comparison, that's nearly 10 cm (3.9 in) more than the H1 offers.
