Everyone also enjoyed Kia's potent 3.8L V6's gobs of torque and linear power delivery. The 5-speed automatic transmission got mixed reviews as some thought that it was lazy and hesitant and other appreciated its smoothness of operation.

Limited criticism
Negative comments on the van are few and far between. The largest concern, by far, is how much fuel the Sedona consumes regardless if it is city or highway driven. One member of our team drove all the way out to La Malbaie, north-east of Québec city, and managed a deceiving 12.5L per 100 km over more than 1,000 km of which 95% was done on the highway.

The other main point that the entire team has noticed is the onset of a large number of rattles. Most of them indicated that they seem to be coming from the front driver's side of the cabin. Others added that the left-hand side sliding door was also noisy. Other concerns included the fact that the front lower seat cushions are a little too short to provide proper support for lower thighs.

Fuel consumption remains relatively high.

So far so good

After just over 6,000 km travelled, the Sedona has not yet given us any trouble whatsoever. We will soon be due for our first scheduled maintenance where we will mention the rattles and our concern about the Sedona's strong thirst for fuel. Hopefully, we will get positive answers.

By the way, many individuals in our long-term test team are young hipsters who would never be caught dead behind the wheel of a minivan. Ask any of them today about their thoughts on the Sedona and most of them will tell you that they were pleasantly surprised with what they experienced.
