On a bumpy track, the PDCC assists the shock absorbers and controls the rebound very efficiently. The first two or three rebounds are felt and then the Cayenne finds peace: the front and rear ends stop jerking. The yo-yo effect is almost completely levelled. Just imagine how comfortable the ride will be on the streets of Montreal.

With the PDCC activated, the Cayenne stays straight.

On a wet road, grip is significantly improved and, on a gravel road, it's now a whole new ballgame: the Cayenne becomes predictable, smooth and sure-footed. We witnessed the improvement firsthand on a rain-soaked course as well as on a woodlot-type gravel trail. The latter proved to be costly for our hosts, as the track was merciless on the Michelin Pilot tires of our Cayenne Turbos. These Michelins are designed for the road and not for such rough terrain.

The PDCC system not only delivers a better control of the vehicle but also a considerably higher comfort level for passengers, who find themselves less jostling. Lane-changing maneuvers and hurried take-offs are also improved.

One little oops...
The Cayenne with optional PDCC system is a fantastic vehicle to drive but there's a price to pay. Only S and Turbo models are available with the new option and they require the selection of the air suspension. In the case of the Cayenne S, expect to pay a premium of nearly $10,000 for the whole package. As for the Turbo model (which offers the air suspension as standard equipment), it will relieve your wallet of an additional $5,000 or so.

My preference
I'm not hesitating to recommend the Cayenne S with PDCC, even when considering the price. In my mind, the Cayenne S offers all the necessary tools, more than enough power, a 2,133-kilo towing capacity, rewarding performances and Porsche-worthy handling. Funny fact: Porsche engineers talk about the Cayenne as a car and not as a truck. (Personally, I say this is an SUV with a car-like ride.) You can see that they are still tied to their company roots. They're not wrong, because the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo truly drive like racy sports cars.
