Thinking outside the box
Under the miniscule hood, you'll find the 16-valve, 1.8-litre engine that's found in the Versa. With 122 horsepower on tap, don't expect the cube to be particularly speedy, but it will deliver good fuel economy; 6.0 L/100 km on the highway, according to Nissan. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a CVT.

Trim and equipment content
Two trim levels will be available, the 1.8 S and 1.8 SL. Standard equipment, depending on trim, will include air conditioning, power windows, keyless entry, six airbags as well as traction and stability control systems. Figuring on the options list are keyless start, Bluetooth connectivity, an upgraded Rockford Fosgate sound system, XM satellite radio and rear park assist.

And like many compact vehicles seeking to appeal to a young crowd, a lengthy list of accessories will be available in order to customize your cube.

Pricing has not yet been announced, but the cube will go on sale in Canada in the spring of 2009. There couldn't be a better time for its arrival.
