The forgotten
Music lovers will be delighted by the 360-watt, 9-speaker Rockford Acoustic Design audio system with 6-CD changer. Sound quality proves excellent.

Elsewhere, versatility and practicality still belong in the equation. The broad trunk allows you to load 4-foot wide objects and the 60/40 split-folding rear seatbacks create a long, near-flat cargo floor that increases capacity from 1,152 to 2,163 litres in the process. For the record, the competition ranges from 1,452 litres (Accord Crosstour) to 2,398 litres (Explorer).

A cargo cover now comes standard, which only makes sense since the large windows also let bystanders and potential thieves analyze the content of the vehicle.

There is one caveat, though: at 83 centimetres, the tall cargo floor makes loading heavy items a lot harder. Plus, the single-piece tailgate rises pretty high and feels annoyingly reluctant to close. Short folks won’t like it.

Friendly driving dynamics
Notwithstanding the aforementioned body roll, the 2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor proves to be a friendly driving machine. The potent engine allows you to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in about 9 seconds and pass slower traffic in a decent time (by midsize SUV standards).

The steering is sharp and the brakes are easy to modulate. Add a not-so-stiff suspension that effectively absorbs road imperfections and you get a fine performer on the road.

That won’t change consumer trends, obviously. The Endeavor’s days are still numbered and no one seems to care or notice.

Having said that, if you’re a car collector who happens to spot one at a fair price, JUMP ON IT! It could join the ranks of the Edsel, Studebaker Lark and Metropolitan 50 years from now. Who knows? Rarity might finally give the Endeavor the appeal it has forever been lacking.
