World-class comfort on the road less travelled
Combining a high-class luxury touring vehicle and a capable, turf-tossing off-roader seems about as logical as selling Gucci-branded rubber-boots—but at Land Rover, this combination has been a way of life for decades.

Case in point? The tested 2011 LR4 HSE amounted to about 70 grand’s worth of on-road comfort, British craftsmanship and high-tech off-road prowess.

Wait—really?

Off-road prowess? With those 20-inch wheels, xenon lights and classy-as-all-heck looks?

You bet.

Classy mudder
It’s upscale and sophisticated—but as a Land Rover, the 2011 LR4 also has countless years of 4x4 expertise built right in. At the touch of a button, LR4 lifts itself up for clearance, while a terrain-selector console optimizes vehicle systems to generate fuss-free traction on virtually any surface. There’s also a transfer-case 4x4 system with low range to dial up plenty of rock-crawling torque as needed.

Translation? The LR4 can climb stuff, slog through mud and haul your boat out of the lake with a smile on its face. This ain’t no soccer-mom cute-ute. And you should see it turn heads going down the road.

Fantastic accommodations
Drivers take in the experience from a meticulously-assembled interior that’s full of character. A tall driving position and fantastic forward view work towards a confident and spacious feel, though long-legged drivers might wish for more knee room.
