This may come as a surprise as this Charger is endowed with the Track Pack, which includes a sport suspension setup and 20” rubber nearly a foot wide. The package also includes performance steering, which beautifully weighs up effort and feel. Combined, they offer up far more grip than expected without ever harshing up the ride.
Should road conditions get ugly, the big Dodge's got your back thanks to its clever optional AWD system, which simply disconnects the front wheels when extra traction is not needed.
It's OK
And it really is. Despite the transmission's shortcomings and the car's none-too-impressive 13L/100km, I love it. Like my cats, who poo, pee, puke, shed, scratch and meow at 2:30 a.m. as though being tortured, once you've fallen for the Charger, all is forgiven.
At a starting price of $37,495, the R/T is all that and a bag of potato chips. As tested, my full-load R/T Road/Track with Track Pack with options rolled out to just over $44,000. At this price, the car is a complete bargain. Although the Ford Taurus SHO features AWD (optional for $2,000 on the Charger R/T non-Road/Track), the Charger is a far more tempting car.
It's a Charger and it'll always be OK. Well, it will when it get an 8-speed autobox.
