As the only true compact station wagon on the market, the Alltrack (and Sportwagen) therefore compete directly with all compact CUVs.
It’s a simple numbers question: interior volume is similar or greater than many CUVs, fuel consumption is expected to be on par or far better and then there’s the drive which can scarcely be matched by only the best handling and driving utes.
The downside? The driving position is not as tall as in a Toyota RAV4 or Ford Escape. Otherwise, VW’s current fracas with the EPA might the only other deterrent keeping some consumers away from showrooms.
