Cadillac's about to toss a 550-horsepower hand grenade into the high performance sedan market. The American luxury automaker's latest creation, the CTS-V, builds off of the award-winning CTS and dials up performance in a big way with a supercharged V8 engine.

Available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission and a variety of options, the stunning sedan will be available at dealerships across the country this fall, priced from just $68,500. This pricetag puts the CTS-V directly in the same market as such contenders as the Lexus IS F, BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 AMG--though with a significant horsepower advantage.

Owners can benefit from a full complement of advanced performance technologies, including Magnetic Ride Control, paddle shifting and a new Performance Traction Management (PTM) system. PTM allows drivers to fully exploit the car's power by instantly matching its delivery against current traction availability- so enthusiastic owners can safely get on the power while the computers keep them out of the foliage.

"The 2009 CTS-V is Cadillac's ultimate expression of performance and luxury," said Marc Comeau, VP of sales, service and marketing for GM of Canada. "While its track numbers speak volumes, we think that the comfortable transition from sport supercar to touring luxury sedan is what really sets the CTS-V apart."
