Cadillac's entry-level sedan, the CTS, was completely redesigned for 2008. Now, after a long wait of almost a year, the company is finally releasing performance data for the sportier CTS-V model. You should know that Cadillac was looking to offer the fastest production sedan in the world.
Apparently, they did! Thanks to a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 556 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 551 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm, accelerations from 0 to 100 km/h have been clocked at 3.9 seconds which, according to official figures provided by automakers, is faster than the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG!
Purists who are only interested in the quarter mile will be pleased to know that the 2009 CTS-V booked the distance in 12 seconds at a speed of 190 km/h.
That's not all: the folks at Cadillac claim that their high-performance sedan recorded a lap of 7:59 minutes at the famous Nürburgring track -- 5 seconds faster than the Audi R8!
The CTS-V features GM's Magnetic Ride Control auto-levelling suspension. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.
