More than 100,000 automotive professionals from more than 100 countries are expected to gather at the 2009 SEMA Show this week in Las Vegas, Nevada, an event considered by many to be the industry’s leading automotive accessories trade event in the world.
Last year’s event featured more than 2,000 exhibitors, all showcasing products that help improve and personalize a vehicle’s appearance, safety, comfort, performance and convenience. “For more than 40 years the SEMA Show has served as the best place for buyers and manufacturers to meet face-to-face,” said Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president of events and communications. Not open to the general public, it is a show for business people, adds Mr. MacGillivray. Powered by Ford This year again the SEMA Show offers a wide array of attractions. As the official vehicle manufacturer of the 2009 SEMA Show, Ford has a strong presence at this year’s event with customized vehicles on display throughout the convention center. The automaker has a long history of having worked with the SEMA industry, as demonstrated through various vehicle technology programs, Measuring Sessions, and serving as one of the first original equipment manufacturers to host a formal exhibit booth in 1996. “Green” can be cool too! As interest in environment-friendly (or green-related) vehicles and products grows, so too does the number of automotive product offerings in this area. This is why the “Making Green Cool Zone” debuted in 2008. It showcases companies whose creativity and innovation in the development, deployment and marketing of the green technologies prove that being environmentally friendly can also be cool. New Products Showcase Recognizing that new products are a key highlight of the SEMA Show, the New Products Showcase will be located in a new, expanded area with more than 2,000 entries! To help visitors to get an overview of what’s new, scanning devices are available. They make it even simpler for attendees to hone in on the products of greatest interest and provide users with printed lists of those product details. West Coast Customs Experience The West Coast Customs Experience is back! It features live, in-booth master classes on welding, fabrication, painting, mobile electronics and more. Leaders from a variety of brands and manufacturers in the industry will be joined by WCC founder Ryan Friedlinghaus and instructors from WCC.
