LAS VEGAS
– The production model is yet to be released, but the promise of the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible raised $205,000 for a local Nevada charity at last weekend’s Barrett-Jackson Auction.

The car on the block was the Camaro Convertible Concept that has traveled the world’s auto shows. It served as a proxy for the second production model to be built next year. The first production model will be used for historical purposes.

The production version will make its debut later this fall, prior to start of production in early 2011.

Chevrolet partnered with Greg Heinrich, owner of Fairway Chevrolet in Las Vegas, and 100 percent of proceeds from the winning bid are earmarked for the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

Several of the auction top-selling lots on Friday were Chevrolets, including several Camaros.
